PREGNANCY AND HOME BIRTH
PRENATAL CARE
The home birth difference is evident immediately. When you choose home birth with Health Inspired, you will have access to the midwife 24/7 via phone, email, or text for questions and concerns. Your appointments will be approximately one hour in length. Family, friends, and support persons are always welcome.
Appointment frequency follows the standard schedule of: every 4 weeks from 12-28 weeks, every 2 weeks from 28-36 and weekly there after (can be modified for your needs). Each visit will address your physical, emotional and spiritual health. We will also go over gestation related symptoms, tests, and what to expect in upcoming weeks.
Continued education is also provided at each visit. This may be health and nutrition, supplements/herbs, exercise, coping mechanisms, and birth preparation.

HOME BIRTH NOT FOR YOU?
Check out what a Monitrice can offer!
WHAT IS A MONITRICE
A monitrice is a licensed provider that offers the same continuous labor support as a birth doula but has additional nursing or midwifery training. This training gives them the credentials to perform certain clinical assessments while supporting a family at home in the early stages of labor.
Monitrice, Advanced Doula Services
Even if you are choosing to birth in the hospital, you can still have the intimate care of a private midwife. Some families choose to hire a monitrice because they are birthing at the hospital but would like to supplement the care with holistic midwife. This offers the added benefit of clinical assessments to help laboring at home for as long as possible. These assessments may include cervical exams (as desired), monitoring vital signs, listening to the baby's heartbeat, and evaluating labor progress, skills that are not in the scope of a birth doula.
Research shows that the later a person is admitted to the hospital in labor, the lower their rates of intervention such as epidural, oxytocin augmentation, and cesarean delivery. The skill and assessments of a Monitrice can help with this.
Once a family has been admitted to the hospital a monitrice supports the family in the same way as a birth doula. They offer a continuous supportive presence, physical and emotional support, suggestions of comfort measures, and support advocating for the family's wishes.
Monitrice services can be customized to fit your needs.
